Settings and Configuration Management
Learn about Site Settings and Sets, the new infrastructure in TYPO3 that allows to compose sites with dependency-managed subsets where relevant configuration, templates, assets and setting definitions are combined in a central place and applied to sites as one logical volume.
A weakness of TypoScript constants and TSConfig is that they are scoped to either frontend or backend contexts and that each specified value can only ever be a string. It is up to the consumer to interpret these values and convert them into the required data type and to use and provide the correct source for frontend and backend contexts.
TYPO3 v13 wants to improve this with settings definitions and provides an API with which descriptive definitions for each individual setting can be applied and managed in the scope of TYPO3 sites.
This talk will explain how site settings are defined and used, how they are provided as Site Sets and will offer an outlook into what's coming next with the planned release of TYPO3 v13 LTS.
